Traditional Banana Cream Pie

INGREDIENTS One cooked 9-inch pie crust three cups of whole milk 1/4 cup of white sugar

one-third cup of all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp salt, 3 softly beaten egg yolks Two teaspoons of butter One teaspoon of vanilla Three bananas

DIRECTIONS Prepare a cooked 9-inch pie shell. The milk should be scalded in a big pot.

Mix the sugar, flour, and salt in a separate saucepan and then slowly stir in the hot milk. Cook until thickened, stirring regularly, over medium heat.

Cook for an additional two minutes with a cover on and occasional stirring.

The three egg yolks should be slightly beaten and ready in a small bowl. Add a small quantity of the hot mixture to the beaten yolks and whisk until well blended. Finally, add the yolks back into the hot liquid.

Cook for a further minute, stirring all the time. Take off the heat and mix in the vanilla and butter. Wait till it gets lukewarm.

Bananas should be sliced and scattered in the pie shell before the heated liquid is poured over them.

If preferred, you can either let the pie cool before serving, or you can top it with a meringue (you'll have three egg whites left over).
